ChatGPT Student Survey – COVID-19 SOCIAL SCIENCE LAB

The global project “Students’ Perception of ChatGPT” is a collaborative initiative aimed at investigating and understanding the perspectives of students from around the world regarding their experiences with ChatGPT, an advanced AI language model developed by OpenAI. This project brings together educational institutions, researchers, and partners from various countries to gather valuable insights into how students perceive and interact with ChatGPT in an educational context. To capture the effects of ChatGPT on students’ life Faculty of Public Administration/University of Ljubljana (along with international partners) will launch a large-scale online survey across the world (from October 2023 – December 2023).
The project’s primary objective is to explore the impact of ChatGPT on students’ learning experiences, academic performance, and overall perception of AI technology. By conducting surveys and collecting data from diverse student populations, the project aims to address critical questions such as the effectiveness of ChatGPT as a learning tool, students’ preferences for AI assistance, potential challenges encountered, and suggestions for improvement.
Through a comprehensive analysis of the collected data, the project seeks to identify patterns, trends, and variations in students’ perceptions of ChatGPT across different educational settings, cultural backgrounds, and academic disciplines. This information will provide valuable insights into the strengths and limitations of ChatGPT, allowing educational policymakers, institutions, and AI developers to make informed decisions regarding its integration into educational environments.
The project embraces a collaborative approach, inviting global partners to participate by administering the online survey within their institutions. The project aims to capture a rich and diverse dataset that represents the global student community by involving a wide range of educational contexts. The collective participation of these partners will enhance the validity and reliability of the project’s findings, ensuring a comprehensive understanding of students’ perception of ChatGPT.
The project team will provide detailed guidelines, resources, and support to the participating institutions to facilitate the smooth implementation of the survey. Additionally, the project will adhere to ethical considerations, ensuring the privacy and confidentiality of the participant’s data.

In the first sheet, data is presented at the country level, while the second sheet contains individual-level data, providing the following information: 1) country; 2) institution; and 3) valid answer to the last question of the questionnaire, which can be used as an approximation for the overall completeness of the questionnaire. Please note that the names of the institutions are not standardized and may appear in English, national languages, abbreviations, etc. Please use the filter option to check the number of responses for your institution.
